Is currently recruiting qualified applicants for the following new position:

Chiropodist Intern

Under the supervision of a mentor, the Chiropodist will provide patients with a management plan and medical foot health treatment to the full scope allowed under the Chiropody Act of 1991. The Chiropodist intern will create a safe and healthy environment for patients and fellow staff.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Keep treatment rooms prepared and assist with the flow of clients.
  • Clean, disinfect, and sterilize equipment.
  • Collaborate with and refer patients beyond your scope to other healthcare professionals as needed.
  • Provide full scope Chiropody to current COCCO standards and guidelines. 
  • Accurately document every client encounter. 
  • Educate clients and their families on achieving and maintaining optimal foot health by assisting with intake, following up after procedures, and supporting assessments.
  • Function as a collaborative clinical team member, which includes Chiropodists, Registered Practical Nurses, a Pedorthist, an Orthotic Technician, and support staff, to provide high-quality, patient-centred care.
  • Work with allied health professionals to deliver a team-based treatment approach.
  • Consistently demonstrate knowledge and expertise in professional practice, including letter writing and charting.
  • Prepare treatment rooms, handle clean equipment, and ensure proper sterilization procedures.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to exceeding patient needs by providing education to clients and their families to help them achieve and maintain optimal foot health.
  • Exhibit strong communication skills: actively listen for clarity and understanding, speak honestly and professionally, and complete charting with accurate documentation of the client’s condition.
  • Treat each patient and family member with respect, kindness, and compassion.
  • Align with the office's core values of Integrity, compassion, competency, trustworthiness, and efficiency.
  • Deliver a product of fully managed patients.

Qualifications:

  • Be registered in Ontario as a Chiropodist
  • Have a full-scope to current licensing
  • Customer service experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills essential for medical reports and educational and promotional activities
  • Proven organizational and time management skills
  • Proven ability to effectively interact within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Sound problem-solving skills
  • Flexible to meet changing department/service needs
  • Computer skills and be able to adapt to a changing AI environment. 
  • Able to meet the physical demands of the position

Eligible applicants must be a recent College or a University graduate within the last 3 years.
